Our Tea Tree Essential Oil is the ancient answer to age-old skincare questions that requires astringent care. Tea Tree is a time-tested tonic, a natural alternative to synthetic skin cleansers and toners. Steam distilled in the Australian bush from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, also known as the Narrow Leaf Paperbark Tree, a native Australian tree that has been used by indigenous Aborigines for centuries.
In ancient Australia, the crushed leaves of the Tea Tree were inhaled to expand the chest and bless the breath. The Bundjalung people steeped the leaves in a pungent liquid to make an elixir for everything. One of our favorite modern uses is in Happy Gum Drops to make the mouth and breath smell sweet and fresh.
Tea Tree Essential Oil makes it all better. With its fresh, invigorating scent, you'll feel like you've woken up on a crisp, cool morning in the middle of a forest where protective flora stoically surrounds you in an earthly embrace.
"A great 'entry level' essential oil for natural care is tea tree oil, which is non-toxic and effective."
~ Kurt Schnaubelt, Advanced aromatherapy
"Tea tree! Thou soft, thou sober, sage, and venerable liquid, thou smile-smoothing, heart- opening, wink- tipping cordial, to whose glorious insipidity I owe the happiest moment of my life, let me fall prostrate thus, and ... adore thee."
~ Colley Cibber
"Tea tree oil has been used in Australia by its native people, who introduced it to the Western world via Captain Cook in 1770. This is one oil that most definitely will get lots of use in your apothecary cabinet and should positively be part of the home first-aid kit."
~ Jeanne Rose, The Aromatherapy Book: Inhalations and Applications
